Death and Dying

Death and Dying

It will be important for me to have my close family and friends close by when I am dying. I would like to get a chance to be with them one last time and also be able to disclose whatever important information regarding my will and other assets as I “put my house in order.” At the end of my life, I might suffer from various diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss and probably dementia and depression. I might be physically weak, weary, and sleepy most time, which might affect my healthcare decisions. I would prefer hospice care to hospitalization to be comfortable at home during my final period of life. Having a familiar environment where I would have spent most of my life with my loved ones during my final days would be important.

Generally, I would wish to actively participate in making decisions about my health and treatment because this would give me a sense of dignity and independence. Furthermore, I would be able to fully grasp my health condition, which will prepare me psychologically for everything I might need to undergo. I would also like to know the truth about my condition, my treatment options, and the chance of success of the treatments. As stated before, knowing these things will prepare me psychologically for the possibility of death if I am told that my condition will result in death within a period. Furthermore, it would also help me to prepare my loved ones and get the necessary support and also help them get the necessary support, such as therapy.
