Alignment and Social Change

Alignment and Social Change

Following the identification of an issue that warrants doctoral research, the study’s purpose and research questions are outlined (Gallotti et al., 2017). For quantitative approaches, the language of research techniques is crucial in framing the research topic such that it aligns with a methodology. It is important to grasp the variety of human experiences, describe a social phenomenon/culture, and develop a hypothesis that can be evaluated in a future study using qualitative methods (Zhang et al., 2018). The two approaches are combined in certain sequences, and designs are used from each method that matches the unique methodology and may be merged in specific ways to answer the research issue (Henriques et al., 2019). Finding a good match between the aspects of a research project is best done by first determining what questions a researcher wants to answer and then aligning their design and methodologies to them.

In order to continue serving as a force for good in society, it is necessary to acquire and put to good use a set of research skills. One must have a good perspective in order to be a positive social change agent. If a person is unsure about what they believe in, they cannot make a difference or take action. For example, I believe that no matter how horrible a person’s former circumstances were, things can be turned around for the better with the correct support. This a motto that I live by and have extensively employed to aid many young people in my role as a counseling psychologist and youth leader. An action plan is necessary for bringing about change. What if I want to be a positive social change agent for children with disabilities in my institution, but there is no accessibility and inclusion policy? Then I would have to do the necessary study, present the evidence to the trustees that there is an issue, and suggest solutions for fixing it.
