The DNP represents a clinical doctorate that prepares graduates for advanced roles in nursing. The main roles include leadership, research, academia, and clinical practice. DNP educators can also impact a shortage in the nursing faculty within the different nursing programs hence allowing more people to become registered nurses. The issue works to decrease the potential future shortages in nursing. Besides, DNP nurses are at the front of the population-based programs and promote them in both state and federal jurisdiction board meetings and legislative committees. These nurses act as healthcare leaders and result from advocating for different population health initiatives through public testimony and correspondence as well as within the planning groups. Nurses prepared at the DNP level are qualified in a unique way to bridge the gap between research and the bedside (Edwards, et al, 2018). The nurses contain an in-depth understanding of the major concepts in the translation of evidence into practice, organizational systems, and implementation science, as well as in research.

There are different needs, challenges, and issues that are most important for our organization. One of them is the issue of diabetes education to the elderly outpatients within our community. There has been an upward trend in the number of patients reporting diabetes within our organization and community. As a DNP nurse, it is essential to work towards reducing and maybe eradicating the high number of patients. The reduction will lead to advancement in the health status of our community. Some of the areas to address include eating healthily, staying active, checking their levels of glucose regularly, and checking their levels of cholesterol and blood pressure regularly (Healy, et al, 2018). The other issue that relates to my organization is reducing the high number of re-admits patients with outpatient procedures.

The reduction of hospital readmission, more so to the ones from poor inpatient or outpatient care, is a major health policy goal. It represents the chance to lower the costs of healthcare, advance the quality provided and increase the rates of patient satisfaction. There is a high percentage of poor people in the community around our organization hence the need to act towards reducing the rate of readmissions. Some important aspects for the DNP-prepared nurse to consider include understanding the current policy, identifying the patients having a high risk of readmission, the use of medication reconciliation, and optimizing the use of technology in treatment. The two issues, therefore, merit the attention of a DNP-prepared nurse.
