TJC, for instance, has developed a criterion for never events, which hospitals must be on the lookout for to enhance safety and quality.

Most of the never events that are evident in hospitals result from errors made by nurses and healthcare personnel (Dimond, 2018). Thus, the right level of quality and safety emphasis has improved the proficiency of healthcare personnel and reduced the deaths that occur due to erroneous undertakings. For instance, care and management events are an example of never events that the TJC and CMS emphasize (Dimond, 2018). Nurses are mostly engaged in care events and are a vital part of the treatment process. In some instances, nurses may present patients with the wrong dosages or wrong drugs, hence leading to their demise (Dimond, 2018). The set standards for patient care activities shave thus improved the nature of care that nurses achieve in their nursing practice.

In this regard, nurses play a key role in enhancing the clinical outcomes of the organization. Nurses are mandated to care for patients and create clinical procedures that improve the welfare of patients. Holistically, nurses play a key role in determining the nature of the experience that patients get from a hospital (Dimond, 2018). Patient care activities are the core function of nurses, which is a significant element of the organization’s clinical endeavors. Moreover, nurses provide the technical skills needed to enhance the quality of care that patients receive. Therefore, the lack of technical skills in caring for patients reduces the clinical proficiency of the organization. Furthermore, nurses may face a significant challenge in engaging the management of the organization in enhancing the quality of care. The management may fail to provide adequate policy structures needed for quality improvement.

Additionally, nurses face educational and training challenges in the change for quality improvement. Traditional nursing skills and educational proficiencies may prove ineffective in the contemporary setting. Specific educational needs must be availed to nurses to adhere to quality changes and their requirements. Therefore, the above challenges influence the ability of healthcare organizations to achieve their intended strategic goals. For example, the lack of adequate nursing resources alienates nurses from their responsibilities toward the patients (Dimond, 2018). Therefore, the quality of care will not be desirable, and the organization will miss its strategic goals. However, the incidence of adequate resources fosters the achievement of organizational goals.

Furthermore, educational needs determine the ethical competency of nurses and their ability to adapt to changes. Organizational goals are jeopardized due to a lack of adequate skills and education. Lastly, the nurse-specific challenges interfere with the feedback channels that the organization uses to advance the quality of care provided. Moreover, the culture of the organization is determined by the work relationships portrayed by nurses. Low-quality consideration will be evident when nurse-organization relationships are not smooth.
