During the first week of this course, I spent a significant amount of time reading the requirements and becoming acquainted with what will be expected of me. To avoid becoming overwhelmed while balancing work, school, and my family, I believe it is critical that I take each assignment one at a time. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is becoming increasingly important in nursing and the medical field. During this program’s courses, I gained a basic understanding of what EBP is. During this week, I continued to familiarise myself with the concept of EBP and how these ideas would apply to my own nursing studies. Based on the lessons learned from previous studies and lecture notes, it is clear that EBP is a valuable tool that can be used not only for research but also for the development of new methods and technologies (Ellis, 2016; LoBiondo-Wood et al., 2013). Furthermore, EBP provides critical facts and empirical evidence to support potential changes in the field of nursing, which can be used in teaching new useful methods and techniques that have the potential to be significant contributions to the profession. Finally, this resource provides excellent research as well as clinical guidelines required for nursing practice. The CINAHL database is a useful research tool for nursing and other health professions, providing access to a wide range of articles written by health professionals and other researchers who have a strong understanding of nursing. It comes across 1300 healthcare journals, books, articles, and conference proceedings (EBSCO Health, 2021). This database contains education modules and research instruments for over 50 nursing specialties. The database allows researchers to find relevant medical terms used in the literature, allowing me to collect more information for my Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) proposal and CAPSTONE project topic.

The Individual Success Plan assisted in laying out and planning for the course in week one, clearly breaking it down and reducing some anxiety. Along with the continuation of my project, I also focused on interprofessional collaboration with the facility’s team members. Along with my preceptor, I met with the facility coordinator in charge, working staff, and other team members to discuss the topic and purpose of the practicum project. I also spoke with my mentor, who works for the same company as me, shares similar work beliefs and ethics, and is an excellent role model for me. She has work experience and knowledge that I believe will be beneficial to me throughout this course. We talked about the course requirements and the importance of staying in touch. She has also assured me that she will be available whenever I require assistance or have a question.
