Family Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Clinical Rotation

Family Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Clinical Rotation

Temple Medical Clinic is currently located at 503 Main Street in Villa Rica after relocating from 431 Sage Street. The center deals with women and pediatric care, thus offering primary care, a medical weight loss program, urgent care, and personal and spiritual counseling (Chapel Hill News and Views, 2018). The offices operate from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. The clinic is headed by Ms. Lori Hudson, who specializes in family medicine nurse practitioners and acts as my preceptor. Hudson holds many medical qualifications, including a BS in nursing, a Registered Nurse, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Master of Science in Nursing. As my preceptor, I hope to learn a lot from her experience and skills in nursing practice.

As a developing NP, I hope to develop leadership skills that are essential in handling different situations in the workplace. These include coping effectively with change, decision-making skills, and teambuilding skills (Thomas et al., 2017). It is also essential to be equipped with technology and information literacy skills, such as the ability to collect, exchange, manage, and process information using new technologies. As a student NP, being aware of the policies that influence the delivery and quality of healthcare is essential in avoiding ethical misconduct leading to lawsuits. At the end of the pediatric clinical rotation, I hope to have learned the policies associated with the treatment and management of infants and pregnant women. Lastly, I wish to develop the ethical competencies required in pediatric care to enhance the quality of care. These include accountability, autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, and justice (Thomas et al., 2017).
