Discussion Response-Alternative Prevention Measures
Response
Great work with your post! You’ve provided numerous alternatives of prevention measures that can be used to ensure that patients’ health improves. I agree that it is critical to eliminate or minimize curative care events. The cost of offering care escalates when curative care’s financial implications are tabulated (Wendimagegn & Bezuidenhout, 2019). This has led to the prominence of preventive care. I am particularly impressed by animal-assisted therapy, which confirms that human beings and animals can develop complex relations that lead to better health. I have mostly encountered dogs, which are used for animal-assisted therapy. Dogs seem easy to use due to their popularity as pets. However, other animals, such as birds, are also used. Patients who benefit from such therapies include those with cardiovascular conditions and mental illness. However, pet owners have other concerns, which include illnesses, trauma, high costs, and complex care. They also tend to cause psychological harm. The attachment between human beings and their pets is evident at the loss of the animal. The owners experience grief, which sets them back emotionally and psychologically (Cherniack & Cherniack, 2014). Regardless of these effects, the use of alternative therapies that benefit the patient is highly recommended to ensure that preventive care is prioritized.

ALTERNATIVE PREVENTION MEASURES
Preventive care helps detect or prevent serious diseases and medical problems before they can become major. Annual check-ups, immunizations, and flu shots, as well as certain tests and screenings, are a few examples of preventive care.
Research has shown that blood flows more easily when music is played. It can also reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, decrease cortisol (stress hormone) levels and increase serotonin and endorphin levels in the blood. It elevates mood. Music can boost the brain’s production of the hormone dopamine.
Music therapy may be beneficial to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words, including children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Treatment may help those with:
- Mental health needs
- Developmental and learning disabilities
- Alzheimer’s disease and other aging-related conditions
- Substance abuse problems
- Brain injuries
- Physical disabilities
- Acute and chronic pain, including mothers in labor
Pet therapy is a broad term that includes animal-assisted therapy and other animal-assisted activities. Animal-assisted therapy is a growing field that uses dogs or other animals to help people recover from or better cope with health problems, such as heart disease, cancer and mental health disorders.
Animal-assisted activities, on the other hand, have a more general purpose, such as providing comfort and enjoyment for nursing home residents.
Spirituality may play a complex role in clinical care settings. Efforts to engage patients require considering the ways in which cultural variables such as spirituality impact health behavior. From health promotion interventions to day-to-day interactions with healthcare providers, spirituality can be a useful means of connecting with patients for whom this is an important aspect of life. Although there has been increased recognition of the importance of spirituality, its incorporation in primary care practice remains difficult to implement. Nevertheless, recognition of spirituality and its potential for influencing health beliefs and behavior is essential for providers who wish to deliver holistic care.
