Capstone Project Change Proposal Presentation for Faculty Review and Feedback
Presentation of Capstone Project Change Proposal for Faculty Review and Feedback Over the last two decades, there has been growing concern about the impact of healthcare-acquired infection on healthcare quality. Infections cause patients to spend more time in the hospital and pay additional fees (Barbadoro et al., 2015). These infections can demoralize medical personnel and reduce their effectiveness. In a medical facility, all patients and medical staff are at significant risk of developing illnesses (Heaven, 2014). COVID-19 is one of the most recent infectious diseases. The lack of evidence-based measures to protect patients and medical staff will increase cases of COVID-19 and other contagious diseases in medical facilities, such as bloodstream infections, surgical site infections, and urinary tract infections (UTIs). Hand hygiene aids in the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases in medical facilities. This paper is a professional presentation of my evidence-based intervention and change proposal for a multidisciplinary audience of leaders and stakeholders.

Intervention
Hand hygiene using badge technology is the best response to the rise in hospital-acquired diseases. Technologies are more effective than water, soap, and hand sanitizers. Some people may not wash their hands properly and can quickly spread infections in a medical facility. Because the technology kills 100% of germs and viruses, it is the most effective intervention for reducing the spread of infections. Infections have become more common in medical settings. According to Indah et al. (2014), infections acquired by patients in the hospital account for 62% of complications for patients admitted to a medical facility. Heaven (2014) discovered that illnesses and diseases acquired by employees impact their productivity. They contribute to their demotivation and inefficiency by being afraid of contracting other diseases while performing their duties. As a result, healthcare providers are concerned about hospital-acquired infections.
Literature based on evidence
Keywords were used in the literature search. The study’s use of keywords guaranteed that only articles focusing on hospital-acquired illnesses were considered. Infections, hospital-acquired infections, and hand hygiene were among the terms utilized in the study. Only articles published after 2014 were considered in this study, ensuring the evidence was current and relevant to the PICOT under consideration. Furthermore, the study only looked at recognized databases like GCU Library and peer-reviewed literature.
In this investigation, each article on the PICOT was reviewed. The study looked at eight different pieces of literature. This review included the researcher(s)’ focus, method, results, and conclusion; this information informed the interventions proposed in the study. Individual research questions for these sources were evaluated about this study’s PICOT Question.
Objectives
- To increase the use of hand hygiene technologies to reduce the spread of hospital-acquired infections.
- To raise awareness of the significance of hands In healthcare and emphasize the need to use hand hygiene technologies.
- The primary goal of this project is to encourage more hand washing in the healthcare facility. Hand washing is critical in preventing the spread of infections.
Resources Required
- Resources from the library
- Hygiene supplies
- Sanitizers
- Posters
Measurable Results Expected
- 22% reduction in the number of patients readmitted from infections
- 15% increase in the safety of patients, nurses, and other staff members
- Reduce infection-related mortality in medical facilities by 20%.
How the Intervention Will Be Measured
The project must be evaluated to track its success and how well it meets the objectives and desired outcomes. Surveys will be distributed to patients and staff members to understand their safety better. The number of infections in the medical facility will also be tracked to see if there is a decrease or increase. It will also be necessary to assess whether each variable is on track to meet the pre-established objectives. The information will help make an essential adjustment to reduce the impact on the facility’s service quality. The medical facility will also be required to write annual reports detailing the progress of the change’s implementation.
